Pawsitive minds is a Animal Assisted Holistic Counselling service that is passionate about helping people become the best versions of themselves.
We are a small private practice currently based in Keperra, Brisbane that believes in a strengths base, person centred, holistic approach.
Our practice is owned and operated by Caitlin Thomas and Samuel Clarkson, who are both passionate mental health professionals.
Everyone is different. Our focus is to help individuals with their mental wellbeing by collaborating with the client to customise a wellness plan that it specific to that person and their needs.
Our aim is to help our clients become aware of their inner strengths and attributes. We achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, while listening to your story with an unconditional positive regard.
Therapy isn't about sitting in a room while someone tells you what's wrong with you. Therapy is about sharing your story with a trained professional who is there to help guide you to be the best version of yourself. We will focus on your strengths and give you strategies to overcome any difficulties you may face.
Animal-Assisted Therapy is a therapeutic intervention that incorporates animals into a client's treatment plan.
It is used alongside traditional therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Humanistic Therapy and Gestalt Therapy to enhance the clients therapeutic experience.
Animals have an amazing ability to read human emotion, they provide us with a non-judgmental, unconditional love. Research has also shown that having animals incorporated within the therapeutic process can assist to reduce anxiety, increase relaxation, increase social interaction and increase communication within sessions. We provide an environment designed to promote emotional growth and learning with the help of our therapy dog in training Willow.
We promise to be there for you every step of your journey. Our goal is to help you grow through your struggles, to give you strategies to be able to positively navigate through any situations as they occur, and to be able to move forward to where you want to be in your life.
Sometimes the thought of therapy can be overwhelming, tedious and can make you think of a sterile clinic! We offer a calm, natural, laid-back environment that we hope will make you feel safe and comfortable.
